ECOWAS REGIONAL BIOENERGY FORUM PROMOTES SUSTAINABLE BIOENERGY FOR WEST AFRICA

Bamako, 19th March 2012. A three-day Bio-energy Forum for the ECOWAS Region was successfully organised in Bamako, the Malian capital, as part of efforts to support the development of regional and national bio-energy strategies to assist the member states roll out modern Bioenergy products and services to its people. The Forum was co-organized by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP).

ECREEE Training Workshop on National Renewable Energy Policy and Incentive Schemes & Global Energy Transformation Pathways and Policy Tools

A three-day training workshop on National Renewable Energy Policy and Incentive Schemes & Global Energy Transformation Pathways and Policy Tools, held from the 9th to the 11th of April, 2012, was successfully conducted in Praia (Cape Verde),as part of the reinforcement of capacities amongst the ECOWAS Member States concerning energy planning and policy to promote renewable energies at the national level.

ECOWAS Regional Workshop on RE & EE Policies

ECOWAS is working towards a voluntary commitment to the Sustainable Energy for All initiative (SE4ALL) of the UN Secretary-General presented at Rio+20. At a regional validation workshop, held from 25–28 June 2012 in Dakar, Senegal, the Directors of the ECOWAS Ministries of Energy agreed on the main targets and pillars of regional renewable energy and energy efficiency policies for the ECOWAS region.
