ECREEE Launches Regional Certification Scheme for Solar PV Installers

ECREEE and UEMOA with support from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and other partners invite training institutions from ECOWAS member states to participate in a new regional certification programme for solar PV installers. The programme  aims at introducing a quality mark for solar PV installers that is recognized by professionals and end users across borders in all 15 ECOWAS member states.

Praia – October 3, 2016 – The President of the ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Mr. Marcel Alain De Souza, paid his first official visit to Cabo Verde-based ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), where he dedicated some of his time to meet with the staff of the Centre.

Roundtable for Parliamentary Action Meeting for Renewable Energy

The United Nations Development Programme and the Climate Parliament, with the generous support of the European Commission held a meeting in Dakar, Senegal on 1 and 2 June 2016 within the scope of their programme for Parliamentary Action for Renewable Energy (PARE). The meeting brought together MPs of the climate parliament of three West African priority countries that are Benin, Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, as well as may national and regional and international stakeholders involved in the promotion and development of the renewable energy sector in the region.

ECREEE Participates in the AFRICA Carbon forum

From the 28th to 30th of June 2016, Kigali, Rwanda was host to the 8th edition of the Africa Carbon Forum. The theme of this year’s forum was Promoting Cooperative Climate Action in Africa. The forum was held at the Kigali conference and exhibition village and comes exactly 6 months after the adoption of the universal climate change agreement at COP21 in Paris in December 2015.

ECOWAS TO DEVELOP MODALITIES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS IN MEMBER STATES

ECOWAS is set to develop a mechanism to ensure that member states implement Renewable Energy policies, projects and plans to meet the global target for sustainable energy for all by 2030.

In this regard, THE ECOWAS Centre For Renewable Energy And Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is developing an investment prospectus that would enable the body jointly mobilise resources with member countries  to implement key renewable energy projects that would lead to the attainment of that set goal.
