Côte d'Ivoire – Abidjan 24th October 2017 – The Executive Director of ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency ECREEE, Mr. Mahama Kappiah has spoken of the importance of the Rural Off-Grid Electrification Project (ROGEP) to the socio-economic development of the ECOWAS region. The ECREEE boss was speaking at a workshop held in Abidjan on Tuesday 24TH October 2017 dubbed “Market-based solutions for electricity access: Off-grid Government-Industry Dialogue Day”.

ECREEE HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING ON CLEAN COOKSTOVES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION IN CABO VERDE

Cabo Verde, October 16 – 20 - With the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (BLMFUW), ECREEE solicited the technical expertise of the Universite Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar- Centre d´Estudes et de Recherche sur les Energies Renouvalables (CERER) to undertake hands-on training for local cookstove artisans in Island of Santiago, Cabo Verde.

ECOWAS launches the preparation of the regional off-grid electrification project (ROGEP)

Dakar, Senegal 12th October 2017 - The preparation of the regional off-grid electrification project (ROGEP) was launched in Dakar on the second day of the ECOWAS sustainable energy forum.  It is one of ECOWAS Community Development Projects designed to facilitate investments in a bid to increase access to sustainable electricity services in the ECOWAS region.  This according to experts will cater for households, productive uses as well as social services, such as public health and educational facilities.

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is organizing the forum on the theme ECOWAS Energy Self-Sufficiency: the Crucial Role of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency.

Launch of Gambia Biochar Network

Banjul, September 27, 2017 - The Executive Director of ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) Mahama Kappiah Wednesday 27thSeptember, 2017 graced the launch of Biochar Network Gambia (BNG) at the Senegambia Beach Hotel in Banjul. The network is constituted by stakeholders in energy, health, agriculture, forestry and environmental protection among others. The launch was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy – Mr. Momodou O.

ECREEE PROMOTES TRAINING FOR SOLAR THERMAL EXPERTS

Koforidua – Ghana, September 25th, 2017 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in coordination with its partners, is organizing a 3 day training of trainer’s workshop on solar thermal energy, taking place at the Koforidua Technical University in Ghana.
