5th ARE Energy Access Investment Forum

The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), in partnership with the African Development Bank and GET.invest (formerly RECP), is excited to announce that the 5th ARE Energy Access Investment Forum will take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast on 13-14 March 2019.

Praia - February 8th, 2019 – The Prime-Minister of the Republic of Cabo Verde, the Executive Director of ECREEE and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Luxembourg, inaugurate the debut of the first seven vehicles 100% electric in Cabo Verde. This was the beginning of a process, which according to the Government of Cabo Verde, will culminate in the next decades by achieving the goal of phasing out the use of fossil-fuel based vehicles.

ECREEE inaugurates mini-grid project in Cabo Verde

Santo Antão – 17/January/2019 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), inaugurated a solar PV mini-grid in Planalto Norte with the capacity of 45 kWp, budgeted in the amount of 300 thousand USD to benefit 50 families in the region.

Guinea Bissau sustainable energy investment plan calls for 700 million USD by 2030

The Government of Guinea Bissau, in partnership with UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), ECREEE (ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency) and ALER (Lusophone Association of Renewable Energies), supported by the GEF (Global Environment Facility), organized the Guinea Bissau Sustainable Energy International Conference in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, on December 6th and 7th. This event welcomed around 150 participants from Guinean public institutions, private sector, financiers, NGOs and academic institutions.
